Mergers and Acquisitions

Last March 27, 2018, RedBear announced it was acquired by Particle. I've bought most of their boards, especially on the KickStarter campaigns, and enjoyed the quality of their support and the Arduino compatibility.

As a consequence, RedBear will terminate support for its boards on September 2019. 

Let's hope Particle will leverage the great support and Arduino compatibility RedBear developed for the RedBear Duo.

General Purpose 3.5" Screen

Current offer on general purpose screens for the LaunchPad eco-system is rather limited. Most of the screens available are highly specialised. 
​So I decided to build my own general purpose screen.

​I set the following requirements...
  • Good quality 3.5" screen,
  • Touch,
  • As fewer used pins and as many shared buses​ as possible,
  • Total target cost < USD30,
  • Compatible with existing libraries.

IoT with Sub-1 GHz Sensor Network

The idea is to have a local network of sensors connected to a hub. Obviously, I'd like to interface those sensors with Node-RED, which offers native support for MQTT and JSON, with an off-the-shelf protocol I could rely on.

I tested three configurations, two based on Texas Instruments solutions and one based on Motion boards, with one-and-a-half failures and one success.
