Arduino Cookbook

For a more advanced exploration of the possibilities of Arduino, I recommend the Arduino Cookbook by Michael Margolis. 

Although written around the Arduino platform, most of the tips and tricks are valid for other platforms. 

It is a reference manual for both the hardware and the software around Arduino. It explores a long list of sensors and actuators with ready-to-use examples.
