Training

Training is critical on embedded systems, as many fields are involved and technology evolves at a very fast pace. 

Learning by oneself is great but has its limits. I realised I was lacking a structured foundation, even if I was completing elaborate projects. Keeping me up-to-date was another challenge, especially when new technologies emerge.

Here are three forms of training I've experienced and enjoyed so far: 

• I attended two MOOCs, or massive open online course, from the University of Texas at Austin through edX.
• Retailers and silicon manufacturers often organise one-hour-long webinars to introduce new technologies and new products.
• Similarly, silicon manufacturers offer workshops, here Texas Instruments.
